- I have a cherished number on a tractor. Can I transfer it?
- My vehicle no longer exists but I still have the old V5/log book. Can I still
transfer the registration number?
- Where do easyReg advertise?
- How will I know if you find a purchaser for my registration?
- Can I change the amount shown on the agreement that shall be returned to me?
Yes. However, please bear in mind that the price easyReg has recommended is based on a true market
quotation that we believe your registration mark can achieve. If you insist on a price that we feel is
over 50% of the true market value then we may not advertise the registration mark on your behalf,
as there would be little chance of success. All changes that you require must of course be agreed
in writing with easyReg.
- Can I increase the amount shown on the agreement that shall be returned
to me after a buyer has been found for my registration?
No. Once we have found a buyer for your mark your contract will be enforced, ensuring that the
purchaser of your mark pays the price they have agreed upon.
- Do I have to pay for a new registration for my vehicle once mine has been sold?
No. Your vehicle will be automatically issued with a random replacement mark with an appropriate
year letter during the transfer procedure (payable by the purchaser). There is no charge to you
for the standard replacement registration. For NI numbers, a replacement dateless registration
will be issued.
- What sort of number will my vehicle be issued with after the transfer?
Upon completion of the transfer easyReg will arrange for a replacement mark to be assigned to your
vehicle and will provide you with full details when the time comes to put the replacement plates on
your vehicle. The replacement registration will contain a letter appropriate to the year your vehicle
was first registered (if a GB vehicle). NI vehicles are all issued with dateless registrations.
Your vehicle will not be issued with a 'Q' prefix number.
- When do I get paid?
If your registration is being transferred straight onto the purchaser's vehicle from your vehicle, we
will require a copy of your V5 registration document showing the replacement number before payment.
If the purchaser is to receive the registration on a retention document then we will pay upon receipt
of the correctly signed retention document showing the purchaser as nominee.
If the registration is being transferred onto a vehicle but you currently hold it on a retention
document then we will pay upon completion of transfer to the recipient vehicle.
- Can I cancel my agreement with easyReg to sell my registration?
You may cancel your agreement at any time by sending written confirmation us at the address on your agreement.
We recommend sending your cancellation by recorded delivery. Cancellation must be made prior to easyReg finding a buyer for the registration mark.
- My Vehicle is not taxed and has no current MOT. May I transfer the
registration from it to another vehicle or to retention?
An application will be considered if your last tax disc expired within six months of the date upon
which the VRO receive your application to transfer. In this case you must have been the registered
keeper at the time the tax expired, and the tax must have expired naturally without refund. You must
also provide the MOT certificate that was valid at the time the vehicle was last taxed. For NI donor
vehicle transfers, the same rules apply regarding tax, but there is no requirement to show any
previous MOT certificate.
- Can I scrap my vehicle before the sale of the number?
No. It is important that you don't dispose of the vehicle until the transfer has been fully
completed and you have received all relevant amended documents. If you scrap or otherwise
dispose of your vehicle too soon, it is very possible that you may lose your entitlement
to the registration.
- My log book states the number on my vehicle is non-transferable.
Can I still sell it?
No. If the registration document states that the registration number is non-transferable, then
it cannot be transferred or retained on certificate.
- I have a cherished number on a tractor. Can I transfer it?
No. Only vehicles subject to MOT / HGV testing are eligible to take part in the transfer or retention
schemes. Vehicles such as agricultural tractors and milk floats etc. are non-testable and therefore
ineligible.
- My vehicle no longer exists but I still have the old V5/log book.
Can I still transfer the registration number?
No. Once a vehicle has ceased to exist, entitlement to its number also expires regardless of possession
of a log book or registration. If a vehicle has been scrapped, you are required by law to notify
the Secretary of State and return the registration document to DVLA.
- Where do easyReg advertise?
We advertise periodically in magazines such as Auto Trader, Exchange & Mart, Top Marques,
What Car, Top Gear etc. We also advertise numbers in a fully searchable database on our website
at www.easyreg.biz. Our database and search facility are also featured on other sites on the
internet, providing even more exposure for your registration. Upon receiving your authorisation
slip, your registration number will appear on the internet and in many of the press adverts we
place until it is sold.
- How will I know if you find a purchaser for my registration?
We will make every effort to contact you by telephone or in writing with offers even though they may
be less than the agreed price. Upon finding a buyer easyReg will contact you by telephone in the first
instance and subsequently in writing to request the documents necessary for completion of the transfer.
We will provide you with a receipt for those documents for your peace of mind.
While we make every effort to ensure that the information contained in our FAQ is correct, and we
believe the information to be accurate, we will not be held to conditions or terms that, through accidental
error or omission, are incorrect. We will however correct such errors as soon as we become aware of them.
